Rice and Easy

Why is it we (westerners) are not a year behind but centuries as far as skincare goes? For centuries rice bran has been used in the East to maintain beautiful, youthful skin.

We know that rice water is served as a drink to improve health conditions so, here we are as the 'cows tail' (as my mum always says for last in the race) it was only a matter of time before Rice Bran and in particular Rice Bran moisturisers came to craze the UK.

I used Body Shop's Japan Adzuki Bean & Rice Wash Grains which can be used for the face and body (yes really). My first reaction, it smells amazing and reminds me of holidays and lazy days. The product itself was fantastic on the body, worked better than my usual exfoliator and left me feeling silky smooth. I added a little water before using it for my face as the mixture felt a little rich for my face and it actually softened the grains too. My Face felt smooth after but as I suffer from sensitive skin I think I'll save this little treat for my body in future.

You can make your own rice beauty products. See perfect skincare for you. Rice can also be used in the bath, as a toner and for hair masks and scrubs so skip the curry and pamper instead.

The highest compliment a Japanese women can ever be paid is to be called a nuka bijin, which literally means a rice bran beauty
